Wij hebben gekozen voor een touroperator in Reykjavik, de hoofdstad van IJsland. De oprichters startten dit familiebedrijf door hun persoonlijke interesse in wilde dieren, boten en mensen. Walvissafari&#8217;s waren voor hen de perfecte manier om hun passie met werk te verenigen. Ze bieden de lokale bevolking en toeristen een kans om het zeeleven van IJsland te verkennen.<\/p>\n<p>Elding volgt de gedragscodes op die zijn gesteld door IceWhale voor verantwoord walvistoerisme. Ze zijn de enige PLATINUM gecertificeerde whale watching organisatie ter wereld.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Elding_Tours\"><\/span>Elding Tours<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Elding biedt verschillende tours aan, zoals Whale Watching tours, Northern Light tours en Puffin Watching tours. De tours vinden dagelijks, meestal meerdere keren per dag, plaats. Wij hebben alleen de Whale Watching tour gedaan. Omdat de walvissafari&#8217;s zo populair zijn, biedt Elding verschillende soorten walvissafari&#8217;s aan. Zo kun je kiezen voor Classic Whale Watching, Whale Watching By Night, Premium Whale Watching (kleinere groepen in een RIB boot) en nog meer. Je gaat op zoek naar <em>cetaceans;<\/em> de grote zeezoogdieren. Je kunt bijvoorbeeld dwergvinvissen (mink whales), bultrugwalvissen (humpback whales), blauwe vinvissen (blue whales), orka&#8217;s (killer whales), witbuikdolfijnen (white beaked dolphins), zeehonden (harbour seals) en bruinvissen (harbour porpoises) tegenkomen. De meeste walvissen spot je in de zomer, maar ook in de winter heb je een grote kans om ze tegen te komen!<\/p>\n<p>In de winter vertrekt er twee keer per dag een boot en in de zomermaanden vertrekken er zelfs zes op een dag! Het volledige schema vind je op de <a href=\"https:\/\/elding.is\/schedule-and-prices\">website van Elding<\/a>. Zorg dat je minimaal een kwartier voor vertrek aanwezig bent. De boten vertrekken vanuit de Oude Haven in het centrum van Reykjavik. Om de boot te bereiken, loop je eerst door een souvenirwinkel. Hier kun je even rondneuzen! In de souvenirwinkel kun je een trap naar beneden nemen. Hier vind je een kleine walvismuseum.<\/p>\n<p>Eenmaal aan boord kun je er voor kiezen om buiten of binnen te gaan zitten. Als het erg koud is, kun je gratis gebruik maken van een soort skipak. In de buitenlucht kun je natuurlijk ook aan de voorkant of achterkant van de boot gaan staan, terwijl je van binnenuit alleen naar de zijkanten kunt kijken. Heb je het koud gekregen? Ze noemen de blog hun <a href=\"https:\/\/elding.is\/whale-diary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Whale Diary<\/a>. Tijdens de tours in de dagen voor onze tour, zagen ze vooral dolfijnen en soms helemaal niks. Toch hoopten we dat wij w\u00e9l walvissen zouden spotten. Helaas was dit niet het geval. Gelukkig hebben we wel ontzettend veel speelse dolfijnen gezien, misschien wel 200. Ontzettend tof om te zien hoe de dolfijnen aan het springen waren en langs de boot zwommen, maar het is natuurlijk wel erg jammer dat we geen walvissen hebben gespot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Worden er geen walvissen of dolfijnen gespot tijdens jouw tour? Kinderen tussen de 7 en 15 mogen mee voor \u20ac 40,- en kinderen tot zeven jaar zijn gratis. Dit is natuurlijk niet goedkoop, maar dat geldt eigenlijk voor alles op IJsland en het is een hele toffe ervaring. Ondanks dat wij geen walvissen gespot hebben, was de grote groep dolfijnen ook onwijs gaaf om te zien!
